What every member agrees to, in the Network, at our events and in every message.

1.The short version

Treat every member the way you'd treat a colleague you hope to work with for thirty years. The Network exists so Jewish law students and lawyers can find each other; it only works if everyone in it feels safe being there.

2.Reach out one person at a time

Write to people individually, about something specific: a coffee chat, a question about their practice, a job listing. Say who you are and why you're writing.

No mass email, no group blasts, no adding members to mailing lists, and no selling: not services, products, courses or causes. Recruiting is welcome one-to-one, with members who say they're open to hiring.

3.Don't copy the Network

Don't copy, export, scrape, screenshot or compile member information, for any purpose, by hand or with tools. What a member shows you is for you to reach out to them, nothing else.

A directory of Jewish students and lawyers is exactly what people who wish us harm would like to have. Protecting it is part of membership.

4.Respect people

No harassment, intimidation, threats, slurs or demeaning comments, whether about someone's background, observance, gender, politics or anything else. No unwanted romantic or sexual attention. No sharing someone's personal details without their permission.

People keep Shabbat and the holidays in different ways, and some members aren't observant at all. Everyone is welcome; no one's practice is up for comment.

5.Respect privacy at events

Ask before you photograph anyone, and post photos only with their permission. There is no photography on Shabbat or Yom Tov. Never share the address of a host's home. Organizers follow the same rules.

6.Be who you say you are

Use your real name, a real photo of yourself and accurate details about your school or work. Post only real job listings, and only first-hand notes about how an employer handles Shabbat and Yom Tov.

7.If something goes wrong

If anyone is in danger, call 911 first.

Then tell us at hello@chabadjd.com, or speak to an organizer at an event. We read every report, reply within two business days, and keep reports confidential as far as we can. We won’t tolerate retaliation against anyone who reports.

Depending on what happened, we may speak with the member, limit what they can do, or remove them from the Network and our events. Harassment, threats and copying member information mean removal. Anything that may be a crime, we may report.
